I Needed This Book At Month 6 on Mission

A few days ago, I was referred to Jeb’s book by a post on LinkedIn. I was an Army Recruiter for 3 years in the 1990’s and I was really curious. Very few people .... maybe none .... teach sales and prospecting in military recruiting terms. But I can tell you that Army Recruiting is the most intense sales experience possible. For 3 years I sold a product that required convincing people to buy something that they couldn’t see, touch, taste, feel, smell, or experience.Like most Recruiters, I came out of the Schoolhouse (which was at Fort Ben Harrison back in the day) raring to go and my first 4 months was easy. And then the easy pool of prospects was exhausted and I missed mission in month 5. Month 6 came and I started digging in. But I really didn’t know what all that meant, nor what lessons were in front of me to learn. I was just bound and determined that I would NEVER miss mission again. So I called my ass off. Every. Single. Day. When I wasn’t conducting an interview, taking someone to test or MEPS, meeting with school leadership, JROTC and all that other stuff ... I was on the phone dialing. Or talking to kids at the local fast food joints. Or walking through the mall.And I was always asking for the sale. Always. Be. Closing. Coffee is for closers.I ended up on mission for 37 months. I made mission 35 of those months. I earned my silver badge, 3 gold stars, gold badge, 3 sapphire stars, and my ring. In 37 months. Because I fanatically prospected and asked for the sale.But my life would have been so much easier with this book. I read it cover to cover yesterday evening. And I love it. It’s everything I learned the hard way. If you are a recruiter, a station commander, a first sergeant, a CSM ..... you need this book. Buy it. Expense it. Steal the copy the other recruiter in the Station bought. Whatever.Read it. Take it to heart. Prospect fanatically. Be confident. Ask for the sale. Make sure your pipeline and funnel are full.

Best Resource For Our Military Recruiters!

A little over two years ago, I met the author, Jeb Blount, while conducting military recruiting company training in Ohio. We were using his book, Fanatical Prospecting, because it was the #1 book on sales and we wanted to increase our skills to compete in the “war for talent” against corporate giants, schools, sports teams, and so on. Although Fanatical Prospecting was a great resource, Jeb wanted to create a book specifically to help American military recruiters make their mission. A Must Have in Your Toolbox!

I'm beyong excited for this book!. I have devoured, high-lighted and tagged the heck out of "Fanatical Prospecting" and literally listen to the audio every single day during my commute to keep my focus and mind-set. When Jeb Blount announced a year ago that he was publishing a version of it for Military Recruiting I was estatic!! I've gotten a copy for everyone on our recruiting team and can't wait to see the outcome. Every recruiter needs this in their toolbox. Because the schools teach the regs but this book gives you practical insight and some tough love to get you, and keep you producing. Game changer!
