OHTO Dude Fountain Pen, Silver (FF-15DD-Silver)

It’s a nice pen. Good to hold. And it takes Pilot G2 refills, which is very nice. Put a bold G2 in this and you have a*very* pleasant pen!The loss of stars is that PilotUSA has incorrect info on their website, claiming the “ballpoint” version of this “takes G2 refills. (Spoiler: it doesn’t. Thus it cost me the price of two pens to get the one I really wanted, which is not exactly good value. I tried reaching out to PilotUSA with a query, but they could not be bothered to respond with the info I needed.)And it didn’t write out-of-the-box. I had to go to Office Depot to buy a working refill, which increases the price of the pen.So, it’s a good pen, but know that the manufacturer Dr is not taking much care in quality-control and/or customer-service.Caveat Emptor!

Lovely fountain pen, nice and clean design. The nib responds really well and write smoothly. I love it and bought it also in black, purple and blue.

When I first got this pen, it took me a long time to figure out if I liked it. Thing is, it took a while for the nib to really reach full saturation. Maybe a week. It also became smoother with a little bit of writing. Now, it's one of my favorite pens, but I was really skeptical when I first got it. I have writing samples with it when I first received it- and you can see that even Noodler's Black Eel was really coming out as a mousy gray. Now, it comes out black like it should. It's nice and wet now.I would like to note that the weight of this pen and its weight distribution is absolutely perfect. This is not a heavy pen but it's also not quite as weightless as plastic pens like the Varsity or Preppy. It's in this perfect middle and there's something about the design that gives the pen perfect balance posted and unposted. (Weight is comparable to Lamy Safari). Of all the pens I have, I enjoy the feel of this pen the most. I find it incredibly comfortable to hold and the click of the cap when you close this pen is incredibly satisfying.One downside is that the aluminum body seems prone to getting little nicks and scratches pretty easily. Just a couple of trips in my purse have caused some wear on this pen. It doesn't really bother me much, but it might bother you.I'll also note that even though this pen kind of has an industrial look to it, the nib itself is very pretty- nice scrolling and it is iridium.

I purchased my first at a store in Ohio called J-avenue and I figured that, when it broke, it was simply a flaw with the pen. Since I have purchased this one as well and it has also stopped functioning properly. Had it simply been the first one I would have written it off as a fluke but the second one breaking is too much to be a coincidence IMHO.

This pen looks great - feels great in the hand - is well balanced. Unfortunately the nib was poorly manufactured resulting in a very scratchy, ink starved, skipping, and overall poor performance. If I get a chance to photograph the nib I'll add it to this post - the very tip of the nib appears bent or malformed. I was so looking forward to this pen performing well based on other reviews - maybe this is just a bad apple in the bunch?
