Didn’t hold up at the beach

Very disappointed. I had high hopes with the reviews but this tent didn’t hold up at the beach. We had the sand bagged, steaks in the dominant side and even took the sun shade side down to help it but it didn’t work.Side note- I nearly broke my fingers when putting it up so be careful. I am not writing the review because of this but because it didn’t stand up in the wind. Planning to return as long as they will take it back.

Wind blows it away

Unhappy with this purchase. I originally purchased this canopy because as a mom with kids who frequents the beach I was looking for something light weight. Occasionally my husband is able to go with us, but when he cannot I have to manage the kids, canopy, chairs, cooler, etc. Unfortunately we had to tie down this canopy at the beach to two poles because the sand bags that are included would not hold it down in 15-18 mph wind. Before tying down the canopy I had a very hard time opening the canopy because the wind continued to close it shut (my husband had to use a lot of force to open it), we attempted to fill the sand bags with sand and utilized the plastic nails that are included with the purchase, but no matter what we did the canopy would not stay down. When we received this purchase I spent the day before going to the beach setting up the canopy at home by myself so I could troubleshoot any problems and I did not have any problems. The video convinced us to purchase the canopy, but I felt it was very deceiving because one thing they forgot to factor in is the wind. Hoping to find a canopy that is actually great for the beach.

Light speed Sun Shade Succeeds Again !

I already have a lightspeed shade cover for the beach, however, it is only 5 feet tall, and getting up, and sitting back down on those low beach chairs was a little bit of a chore for me. So I opted for this new Lightspeed beach shade cover because it is 6 ft 4 inches tall making it easier to get up and out of a standard foldable camping chair. Both have the convenience of opening up like an umbrella without all the hassle of trying to thread rods through the sleeves like other beach shade covers. This is a real winner with built-in pop-up convenience, light portability, and ease of fold and go.

first impressions, and a few tips

My first impressions of this shade tent were NOT GOOD. It was extremely irritating to try to set up, as it's engineered in a way that's entirely different from any other tent that I've ever had. Because of this, the directions need to be MUCH BETTER. First, you really need to pay attention to where the blue straps are that run between the feet of the poles. While you hold the hub upright, the poles need to be down on the ground and pointing out, with (and this is important) the pole straps running between the ends of the poles, outside where the canopy is (not over or under the canopy). Then you duck under the canopy and pull the string to extend the poles (this part is pretty nifty). Then you have something that looks like a shade tent for a very small child. The poles telescope, and there is an easy-to-use mechanism to lock them in place once they're fully extended. One very important thing that is not covered in the instructions is that you need to pay attention to the joint between the hub and the joint where the locking mechanism is on each pole. There was no mention of that joint in the instructions that I could see, and when I first assembled the shade tent, that joint was oriented correctly on two poles, but it was off by 180 degrees on the other two poles. So the two poles with that joint oriented correctly created a dome shape, and the two poles with that joint oriented incorrectly created more of an angle. The shade tent leaned quite a bit, and quickly fell over. Extremely irritated and dripping with sweat, I finally came inside and watched the video that Gerardo Garcia posted. The video doesn't specifically point out the importance of that joint, but at least it gave me confidence that I'd followed the (scant) instructions correctly. When I went back outside to have another go at it, I initially wondered if that joint might be broken on two of my poles. Then I wrestled with them until they twisted around 180 degrees, and the tent finally stood upright and did not lean or fall. It looked stable, and attaching the additional shade wall was straightforward. As I was disassembling the tent, I recalled that I had been annoyed by all the blue cords that were hanging from each tent pole (they kept getting twisted around the poles, and I wasn't clear how important they would be to the set up at that point, so I kept trying to fix them). These are clearly tie-outs for use to provide more stability on the beach or in other windy conditions. That's not applicable to how I want to use the tent, so I removed them as I was taking it down. I can always replace them if I ever decide they might be useful. But for now I'd rather reduce annoyances during set-up.I bought this shade tent so that I won't have to be in full sun while I watch my son play T ball, in the middle of an open field, for two hours each Saturday. I will test it out tomorrow. This will be the third shade tent I've tried. I am hopeful that this one will work out because it is lightweight, I can set it up myself, and it has the removable wall to help block out the sun at different angles. I am optimistic that set up on the T ball field will go more smoothly than my initial attempt at setting this up.

Its a shade.

Great sun shade. We use in our back yard so the kiddos have a shaded place to play. Very easy to set up and tack down, which was the most important think for us. We have only used this a few times, so I cannot speak to longevity or durability. I also wish I could buy another shade wall, not hard to make your own though. Very happy with this purchase.

Doesn't work well with a breeze.

Lightweight, easy to carry. Somewhat difficult to set up on the beach with a breeze blowing. Did not anchor well with provided stakes. Tent bent over when it was moderately windy. Would not recommend for an East coast beach. Disappointed I purchased because I will not have use for it again. Second day on the beach we went back to a large umbrella which had no issues when the breeze blew.

Waste of money

I was looking for a beach shade option, better than the typical umbrella or sports pop up shade tent. I purchased this canopy because of the extra height and lightweight features. I was pleased with this product on the first use, but one of the four essential bars snapped ON THE 2ND USE. Definitely unhappy, especially since it cost 89.99! Going back to my Walmart since I'm outside the Amazon return window.
