GSD Waffle Blade Attachment for GSD Mandoline Slicer

I've wanted one of these nifty little gagets for the longest time. I have finally managed to make Potatoes Au Gratin that actually got done in the amount of time it should have. Easy peasy, did three big potatoes in a flash. I do think I'll buy myself one of those gloves to protect my hands...I'm a bit of a klutz when it comes to anything sharp! I used the little guard long before it was probably necessary, but I felt totally safe and the potato slices were awesome. Now maybe I can make some good french fries and I can't wait to try Potato Chips. My only problem with it is that the plates for making the slices aren't marked (or I couldn't see the markings?) and so I usually have to make a couple of cuts to see which one I want to use.Great little product, and boy is it sharp!

Sharp and durable. I've had ours for years (no need to sharpen) and only purchased a new one to get the flat slicing triangle we lost when we moved.

This is the second that I have purchased. Very sharp, saves a lot of time prepping for meals.

This attachment is wonderful for making waffle fries, although perhaps they are a bit on the small side. The two stars are subtracted because it is very difficult to snap this blade into place, as there is almost no clearance and you have to slightly bend the very sturdy plastic to get things to fit, all the while knowing that if you slip you will have waffle fingers. Also great for pickle chips.

This slicer does the job. I wish the protective piece was shaped more like the knob on my old one, though.

Had one for 25 years and thought I'd replace it. This one is updated and much better. Better than any electronics for small jobs.

This replaced an identical Mandolin I purchased many, many years ago. I tried others and this is the easiest and best.

I have used this mandolin for years but they have "upgraded" the safety guard and it just isn't solid so if you get this mandolin it works great but you need to use it with a no cut glove. Then it will work fast plus you will not waste as much of your veggies. And you'll be safe.

Very disappointed with this mandolin. It is very difficult to insert the blades and impossible to store them. There is nowhere on the mandolin to put them and they don't fit back in the box easily. My husband spent ages trying to put it all back in the box for storage and was in danger of cutting himself. I cannot see him using this very often.

This looks like a cheap and chearful alternative to its more expensive cousins but its excellent value for money. The blade is so sharp it takes no effort to use and is easy to clean.

Excellent blades, easy to use, a snap to clean. I buy a supply to give as shower gifts. I'm so glad that Amazon has them available, as they are no longer easy to find.

Habe mir den G S D Universal-Gemüsehobel gekauft, weil ich viel Salat zu schneiden habe. Gurken, Karotten......auch mal Zwiebeln, Zucchini etc.Im Grunde ist das Gerät in Ordnung:Die Klinge ist scharf und sie ist mit dem Träger verschraubt. Das waren die Klingen meiner bisherigen Hobel nicht - und das hat letzten Endes immer für Probleme gesorgt. Die verschiedenen Einsätze sind sinnvoll und gut im Gerät zu befestigen. Das ist ebenfalls wichtig, denn schlecht sitzende Einsätze sind ein Verletzungsrisiko.Was mir nicht gefällt, ist der "Restehalter". Er hat einen vergleichsweise großen Abstand zur Klinge und produziert so unnötigen Ausschuss.Ausserdem besteht er aus drei zusammengesteckten Teilen, die sich im Geschirrspüler schon 2 mal voneinander gelöst und fröhliche Suchaktionen in den hinteren Regionen der Maschine ausgelöst haben.Was mir auch nicht gefällt ist, dass das weiße Plastik sich bei Karotten und Paprika stark einfärbt.Das ist schwer, nur mit der Hand und verletzungsgefährdet zu reinigen und sollte nicht sein.

Wir haben den Hobel als Ersatz für dasselbe Modell gekauft, das seit etwa 20 Jahren im fast täglichen EInsatz ist. So lange wird er auch praktisch unverändert hergestellt. Der alte Hobel hat all die Jahre erstklassig durchgehalten, was für ein oft benutzten Küchengerät bereits einzigartig ist. Er hat sich dann mit den Jahren stark gilbig verfärbt und erst Risse sind entstanden, aber die erwartete Lebensdauer hat er um ein Vielfaches überschritten. Durch die Nutzung dieses Geräts haben wir nebenbei Plastikmüll samt Verpackung für jede Menge kurzlebigere Teile gespart.Das Klingenmesser lässt sich abschrauben , schärfen und auch als Ersatzteil separat kaufen, auch das gibts nicht oft. Im Gebrauch ist der Hobel einfach und weit optimiert. Die Version mit drei Einsätzen ist optimal, der vierte Einsatz, ein Buntschneide-Einsatz ist mehr Spielerei und der fünfte Einsatz, eine dickere Julienne wird in der Praxis nicht oft gebraucht. Die weisse Farbe des Hobels lässt ihn bald gebraucht aussehen, weil farbige Gemüsereste nicht leicht abwaschbar sind. Spülmaschinenreinigen ist möglich, verkürzt aber die Lebendauer. Besser mit den Farben leben.Einzigartig ist wohl mittlerweile der Herstellungsort, vermutlich gibt es ansonsten kaum mehr irgendein Küchengerät aus Plastik, das nicht in China hergestellt ist. Allerdings übertreibt GSD die Werbung dafür masslos, fünfmal steht gross und fett überall "Made in Germany", zweimal mit Flaggenfarben. Und ein heftiger Preis wird dafür aufgerufen. Wer ihn aber auf die Lebensdauer des Geräts umrechnet, kommt gar nicht so teuer weg.
