I can't find the original review but this is a resentment of that statement that was made more towards Amazon than the vendor themselves. Now I haven't had the chance to test out the magnet but I will this weekend. Seems pretty strong for a small magnet. Never been magnet fishing before but again we'll see how it goes. The gloves are surprisingly okay quality and fit quite well and the rope itself seems pretty strong too. So I'll give the rating for the quality of the content the box but lets see how it goes with its first time use.

I purchased this for my hubby & boys. They love to "hunt for treasures" by panning & metal detecting so I thought this would be perfect. They absolutely love it. All items included seem to be great quality. I purchased a longer paracord as they are hoping to drop from some bridges soon. The case is small and everything fits inside. The magnet even attracts objects from within the case, it's that strong. I don't think you can go wrong with this purchase.

Def not a 700 lb magnet. When used it first pick up anything. Very disappointed

My husband absolutely loves this. Especially because it has everything he needs to magnet fish. Only used a couple of times so far but no complaints so far!

Used this at a river in NC, really had to get right on something in order to pick it up. Ended up with more sediment covering the bottom than anything else. We will try it again at a lake soon though.

Great set. I wish there was more metal in the lakes around me.

This is all my daughter wanted for Christmas. (can't wait until spring) we read reviews on a lot of different brands and found this one to be the best by far (super excited)

First,this is non returnable. Be sure you really want it before spending the money.Second, this is a fraud... there are pictures of people with coins and other treasues.Had i paid attention in science class, i may have remembered that gold, silver and many coins are not magnetic, so this will not pick any of that up.It works on steel and iron, but unless you are a scrapper and not what i would call a "treasure". Sure, you could find an old gun or knife, but mostly you will find screws, nails and bolts. Most likely nothing of real value or even cool stuff.Lastly, this does not pick up 600lbs. Some of the reviewers have suggested that this is a two sided magnet that will pick up 300lbs on each side... wrong. It may pick that up in dry weight, but try pulling something out of the water, mud and sand. Unless it is the size of a coin, it won't happen... and remember, this won't pick up coins, so good luck with that.About the time you realize you wasted your money, you also realize that you cannot return it.Shame on Amazon for not disclosing that up front.
