This is a simple kit to build, but takes some effort and knowledge to get it programmed and running. The customer support is excellent however. I didn't want to call China, so I got technical support via email, which worked great even if it took a little longer because of the time difference. The documentation is a little on the light side, but I figured everything out with email help from tech support. Unless your Son or Grandson is a Techie, he will need your help to get it running. The major problem I had was that the version of the USB to Serial Port driver supplied on the disk would not install on my Dell computer. so I had to download a new driver. Also, the version of the Arduino IDE supplied was not the latest. It would work, but I downloaded the latest anyway. In general, it is best to visit the Yahboom website for the version of all the software, since what is on the supplied DVD is out of date. Some of the latest Dell computers have no DVD drive, but all the software can be downloaded from the website instead of using the DVD.When you compile the and upload the software, don't forget to tell the Arduino IDE that the computer board is an Arduino Uno, and don't forget to specify the correct COM Port. Windows will not recognize the Driver automatically, so don't forget to download and install the USB.Serial driver. Also, you cannot upload software to the car until you remove the Video/WIFI cable because it uses the same serial port as the upload.In my opinion iPhone APP is hard to use, but it does work even if minimally documented. The problem is that it displays both the video and the control buttons on the screen at the same time, making the buttons a little hard to see. Also be aware that the Battery charge only lasts 30 minutes, and instead of warning you, the car just starts ti misbehave. This is the signal to recharge the battery.

The car looked good. I was able to put all the parts together. It was fine, except that the car does not move by control remote until I made a lot of arrangements with the company by phone downloading programs, spending a lot of time on the phone with technicians from other countries such as, India, probably another ones that I did not identify. I know about the technician guy because I asked him for the country he was calling me from.In conclusion: people who sell this remote control cars or robots must make it easier for the customers . We paid for something to have fun, no to be busy trying to get the programs that the remote control needs in order to be remote control by me, the person who paid.By the way, with all the calls that I made to make the remote control to move, it did not work. All the calls I made to haave the downloads from other countries did not make my car to move by remote control.

Nice way to learn programming and electronics at the same time. I've always liked Arduino programming platform, even though this is not Arduino it's the same thing. Not necessarily for kids and i enjoy it too and love to tweak these creations.The kit includes high quality service motors, hats, wheels, sensors etc. It's not that easy to build the car as it says but i like a little challenge. 10 year+ aged kids would love this especially if they're into technology, programming and computer science. This will teach kids both the hardware part, circuits and programming.The sheer number of participants included can be a bit overwhelming for kids so maybe a bit of adult help might be required. It's a good thing that or had a lot of parts. Definitely recommended, having a lot of fun tweaking and playing around with this myself and the kid.

My 10 year old assembled this on his own, and several YouTube tutorials later he had it programmed and running. The servos are sub-par and extremely easy to strip the gears rendering them useless. We are replacing the servos with higher quality products. Great introductory to robotics, and I recommend. Great documentation.

My 11 year old son is pretty good at putting things like this together so I got this for him. He was able to put it together fine. The issue we had was figuring out installing the software. I got it to work so we could see the camera from the robot on the computer, but haven’t figured out how to get it to move or do anything else. I followed the instructions but still unable to figure it all out. Maybe someone with experience with products like these would not have a problem, I’m not super savvy with stuff like this. I wish the instructions for the software were more easy for lay people to figure out. Then it would have gotten 5 stars from me.

I purchased this item with very high hopes. I've purchased other items from a similar company, (I think they are all the same company) and had very good results. this car is, at best, difficult to assemble unless you have some very fine screwdrivers, the instructions leave a lot to be desired. Not very clear. When it came time to operate the car and downloading programs, they forget to tell you that you have to understand how to do "include" type programs from a separate library of programs. No 10 year old would be able to understand this. I thought the "scratch" programming would be easy for my grandson to work with, however, I have not been able to figure out how to compile and download these programs. I was able to get the car to work once with a program for running the servo through 180 degrees. Have not been able to get another program to function. Constant errors with program structure, downloading and the system has caused emergency resets to my computer. I will not connect this car to my computer again. Sorry, but I cannot recommend this item for anyone. by the way, I am an electromechanical engineer! I've never had so much difficulty with a product like this before.
