Fit!
I have a 2008 VW Jetta and this worked just fine for me.

It compatible with 2017 vw beetle

Worked well for 05 Passat Will have to find an acc wire
Harness plugged in easily. VW keeps both the yellow and red acc wire hot the entire time. Not sure why maybe due to vw using the can network bus, typical Germans making something more complicated that it needs to be. Found an accessory switched 12vdc wire in one of the fan/ac harness below the radio. Tapped into that and radio now turns off and on with ignition

Wiring schematic could be more detailed
Pretty straightforward for experienced installer but you have to run your own switched power source
