Works well - most of the time
Initially had problems because I started using a “new” battery which had been in the cupboard for a while. Bought brand new battery and it has been great- most of the time. Occasionally for no apparent reason I have to delete it from my Bluetooth list on my iPhone and relink but it’s so useful to be able to turn the water on from inside the house for a few minutes instead of unlocking the doors turning on the water, waiting 5 minutes then locking everything up again.

Gardena will not honour defects even when under waranty
The media could not be loaded. We have used this unit for nearly 12 months, so still within warranty. My wife noticed a leak from the casing, so I reached out to Gardena for support. They asked me to remove the external casing covers and plug it into the tap and turn it on to see where the leak came from. I sent them the video that is attached with this review. Considering the unit has no signs of external damage and it is leaking, you would reasonably think that it is due to some manufacturing defect. But Gardena thinks otherwise, they are wanting to charge me for either a new valve body and/or hydraulic valve (both total to more than what I paid for the unit when bought new!).So, I would advise anyone thinking of this to not bother. The warranty is not worth the paper it is written on and the quality of the product to fail like this in under a year is very disappointing.

Easy to use!
I added the Gardena Water Control with Bluetooth to my garden driop irrigation system. The device works very well and can be controlled by the iPhone app with a limited manual override.Well worth getting and easy to set up and use.

Timer functions go wrong
After just a week it lost track of time and my timed sprinkler started going off at random. Easily fixed with the app, but annoying. It doesn't have many functions, and I don't think keeping good time is something difficult to achieve.

Useful high tech watering system
This is quite a utilitarian bit of garden tech, but nevertheless very useful. I’ve used a few of these timers in the past for drip irrigation, but never one quite so high tech with bluetooth functionality. The instructions don’t explain an awful lot, the whole thing is minimalist. But I needed to reset before the bluetooth would pair, but after that the app downloaded onto my iPhone connected quickly and I soon got up and running.Timers i’ve used in the past have been quite restrictive with their programmes. There are also complicated settings to alter either using a dial or lots of fiddly buttons on the timer. WIth this, everything is down on your phone so it’s much simpler and more user friendly.Various programmes can be entered into the app which then effortlessly transfers to the device. There are useful settings such as rain delay, which temporarily stops any planned watering cycles if wet weather is expected. Water can also be switched on and off manually from the app, and the unit itself has an override button allowing water to flow from the tap, ignoring and programmes.Max operating temperature is 50°, I would use this in the greenhouse so it should be ok but could edge close to the limit. It’s powered by a 9 volt battery (not supplied). It does the job well, it seems oddly joyless compared to other brand names in this line of items, but still good to have with the bluetooth functionality. The programme is stored in the unit so doesn’t need to be in range of your wifi. You can’t however change the setting remotely, you need to be in bluetooth range of the unit, so you couldn’t put the rain delay on for example if you’re on holiday. For my use in the greenhouse that’s fine, but if not you may want to consider one with wifi rather than bluetooth.

Useless
I hate myself, but I'm about to buy a third one. This is only because I have to have something like this, and on sale and I'm hoping for the best. Basically if you leave it over winter plugged in, it will fail with any kind of frost. I can pretty much guarantee you.If you trying to talk to their customer service you will get absolutely nowhere they are in my experience utterly disinterested and could not give two hoots about customers who have given the money. It's really depressing to have to buy another one.
