Actually much nicer than I expected! They have a nice smooth surface, I've tried painting on a couple with Derwent Inktense paints and the results have been mostly very good, just a tiny bit of bleeding, possibly my own fault for making the paint too wet.

Beautiful, especially with their little heart-shaped hole for hanging them up. These hearts are made from smooth wood and easy to paint or write on. At just 2mm deep they're thinner than some decorating shapes, however this makes them more suitable for card-making or pretty gift tags. They could also be decoupaged, decorated with fabrics, buttons, mosaics, lace or any medium which could be glued to the surface, or messages, names etc written on them. I love the heart stand which has been made out of them in the description. They'd be suitable for even young children, group activities, family crafts for a wide age-range. They can be customized to any style, season or interests. The string which is included needs cutting to size, 'though it would be easy to add extra string, or to substitute ribbon, if required. I'd fully recommend them, and am off to see if I can make some Easter style hearts ...

They where OK what I expected.
