Fantastic Flight

To sufficiently enjoy and evaluate this book, one has to be ready to take the time to study the art of paper folding. Then above that, one has to be thoroughly intrigued by the phenomena of flight. Combine these two, and you get the full measure of appreciation of what John Collins has done with this and his other books on the subject of flying paper airplanes. Mr. Collins has already presented his credentials with regard to being a caring teacher, because in his approach and presentation of each progressive project, he imbues in the student the same kind of spirit and joy that he has enjoyed in reaching the status of expert. He also does not lose sight of how to reach out and touch the creative impulse in humans, because the excitement that he experiences with each discovery comes through each and every page all the way to the conclusive and advanced projects. Putting this book down and ignoring it is impossible; he proves over and over again that science, art, and joy need not be expensive or too difficult to obtain for anyone willing to take the time to explore the important things in life.

This second book by Mr Collins do not have as many unique planes as his first offering...but the explanations and the theory of how these planes fly is unbeatable. He even gives you breakdowns on the flight to landing ratio, how to stage your own flying contests ...etc...that alone is worth the price of the book. The diagrams and instructions on the folding of the paper planes are a plus.

I received 10 of these books...I wanted 1 for my grandson. I thought it was a book of 10 paper airplanes. It's a great book. I would like to return the other 9 books. Thank you for your attention John M. Collins!

Great diagrams and explanations, and many of the airplanes that I've tried are really good fliers. I recommend for beginners (and beyond)

this is not a starter book but is great for those already interested in paper aviation. suggest you pair this with Airigami by Elmer A. Norvell.

John Collins is a passionate ambassador of paper planes and this book is the most creative in complex and spectacular shapes. Not easy but phenomenal.

The instructions are not great. Have done a lot of origami and although these are simple folds his instructions are not clear. See Robert Lang for an example of better instructions on complex origami.

I give it four stars because some designs are just too complicated for what you get in the end, others are really ingenious and nice. I own several books on paper planes and it seems to me that the best planes that fly the best are simple in design. I would recommend the book to anyone who is paper plane enthusiast. Good buy an great price on amazon.
