Works with a little effort
Purchased this to replace Bose on 2005 Maxima. When arrived the kit seemed a little fragile. But when I opened up the one in the car the quality was no different. I'd say it is as strong as it can be.The color of the kit does not match factory finish. But it came primed. I simply bought a metallic finish spray paint and painted it a couple of times. While the first coat was drying I scrapped it gently to create brushed metal look. Once dried it was no different than factory finish. The bottom compartment did not fit properly, as noted in another review. The front cover refused to open/close without some strong push. I have left the lid of the compartment permanently open. However, I would have liked the ability to close it when needed. The single din is sized properly. However, once I installed the player I noticed that the kit was covering the player's top part more than I wanted it to. This was preventing the touchscreen from my cd player to tilt up as much as I wanted it to. I will be sanding off some of the single din from the top to allow the player to hang out a little more so that the automatic screen can open and tilt properly.I would have preferred to have the open slot below the din but I can live with the design.Overall, it is a decent kit for twelve dollars. The same kit is selling for more than twice the cost on other sites. There are not many choices in kits available for Maxima and I am still glad I found this one for cheap.

Inexpensive single DIN replacement for 6th gen Maximas
Like many Bose owners, I wanted to replace the head unit with an aftermarket one, but needed a single or double DIN replacement console cover. Along with the Metra harnesses, this was a must have. As far as I can tell, Metra covers a great number of cars, and keeps the prices reasonable.I give this item an extra star (for 4 stars) because it's _very_ inexpensive compared to what other cars that don't have Metra products available have to pay.I give the product 2 dings:1st - The color is close, but it's not a match compared to the original console. Truth be told, only the original owner or an enthusiast would notice (or care). The problem is that I am the original owner and an enthusiast for the car. The silver/gray is slightly off, and the unit does not have the slight mettallic speckle of the OEM face.2nd - The cubby cover does not work smoothly. It has a definite catch when toggling to 'close' and 'open' mode (ie you press it in to 'snick' it to stay closed, then press it in again to 'snick' it to open). The original unit feels much nicer and takes a much lighter push. This is actually the more 'annoying' of the 2 faults.3rd - This isn't really a ding, but I sould have preferred that the DIN opening be at the top and the open-faced cubby underneath instead of having the open-faced cubby on the top. No "fault", just a preference. But for the money, it can't really be beat.

Not Right Size for Single Din
Not the right size for single DIN.I had to cut it to make it work, but even so it isnβt great. Not happy with the product and if not for already having cut it, I would return it.

Good Product
The finish is fairly close and not noticeable to anyone but the owner. The fitment of the top is not perfect and the factory reused pocket on the bottom rubs slightly.Purchased product for a friends car, but for the price I would not hesitate to purchase again, even for my own car.Overall a very good product. Satisfied.
