A very entertaining read and a lovely story.
We (son and I) saw Meatloaf's wonderfully dramatic reading of The Lamb who came for Dinner on Bookaboo and knew we had to have it!At first the wolf can't wait to eat the lamb, but eventually the wolfs desire to eat the lamb gives way to confusion once the lamb starts showing him affection and it's all very entertaining. Also the illustrations are so beautifully drawn and expressive that they practically tell the story by themselves. We love the story of how the hungry wolf falls for the innocent little lamb and ends up wanting to care for it, rather than stick it in a hot pot. A favorite!

brilliant book
This is the 3rd one I have purchased because my grandchildren loved it so much and I have nieces and nephews who are now the correct age. I would predict age 3 to 8. It is a sweet story about a cold little lamb arriving at the door of a very hungry wolf about to eat vegetable stew through lack of meat. of course it is welcomed inside and the story unfolds predictably. With good wolfy voices and gentle little lamb utters i have kept my grandchildren spellbound on numerous occasions. they never tire of the tale as with most of Smallman's books.

Quite a sweet book for a three year old-and great for older kids-However the concept of being eaten by a wolf is a bit overplayed for this age group. Whenever she is scared of something- eg going downstairs by herself in the morning- it is because she does not want to be eaten by a wolf. I hadn't thought about the impact of the story on a child and have stopped reading it to her for now.

Top children's story
This is such a lovely book. One of my granddaughter's favourites. I have just bought it for a christmas present for another small family member. If you like telling bedtime stories to 3 - 5 year olds this is worth buying.

Una historia preciosa y muy bien desarrollada. Las ilustraciones son tan tiernas como el cuento. Es un libro estupendo para regalar.

Love it!
My girls (4 and 3) love this book. It is the type of story where you can do voices, and my girls love that! They always like stories with wolves involved and this story is really cute.

Enjoyed by all members of the family
Enjoyed by all members of the family.I bought the book after seeing a BBC children's program posted on youtube, where someone read it at loud and did an amazing job. I strongly recommend googling it and watching it before you buy the book. You get to see all the pictures and hear the entire story and a very successful narration. I fell in love with it just then. The book is beautifully illustrated, and a wonderful story that delivers the message in a nuanced way. My 3-year old asked to re-read it over and over again, enjoying the transformation from "he wants to eat her!" to "he is her friend!" (in the kid's words, pointing at the pictures). I am almost certain that I saw my husband's eyes wet after reading the story the first time and he is a "manly man" in a very gender-stereotypical sense.

A classic, fabulous kid's story!
A wonderful and touching story of an old wolf meeting a little lamb, first imagining him as dinner, then starting to like the little fellow as a friend. Humorous and really a gentle, nice story. Fabulous, you won't go wrong getting this for a child. Very special book.

Wonderful!
My son, who has Autism, read this book in school and was quoting it constantly. We went to the library to check it out, and I, my husband, and our daughter (who also has Autism) fell in love with it, so we bought a copy. I read it to my kids every night, and my son does the voices of the wolf and the lamb. It is adorable, and the illustrations are PERFECT!(Yesterday I read it to my kids in front of my mom, who is visiting, and now she loves it too, lol!)Definitely worth the purchase!

Absolutely deligthful
My 6-year old daughter absolutely loved this book and I do, too! Even my husband, who rarly shares my taste in children's books said that it was one of the best books he'd read. The story of the sweet and innocent little lamb who by its love and trust changes the old wolf into a caring being is hard to resist. The pictures captures the story beautifully.

Love conquers hate
My son asked me to buy this book. He thought the title was interesting. He loves it, and I love it! I like books with a moral, and this one shows how innocence and love melted hate. And it is entertaining to kids! I have had the book a couple of months, and I'm purchasing another as a gift now.

Preschoolers really enjoy this book because of the ending
Preschoolers really enjoy this book because of the ending. Gives facts about a wolf eating meat, but in the end he is sensitive to the lamb. Good character builder.
