It takes a lot of setting up and instructions are terrible, other than that it works well, I fitted a old laptop HDD into it and no major problems so far. That said the cameras are flaky at dawn and sunset, they cycle for 20m between UV and daylight modes which triggers the motion record, also the menus and whatnot are terrible, for instance in places there are mentions of something as ICR then next page it calls it IRC threshold?, also no explanation of any of these terms, the manual is all of 4 pages, etc, anyway if your tech savvy it's a useful bit of kit at a very cheap price, otherwise I'd avoid.

It does what it says on the box and is simple to set up, even if you don't know more complex CCTV systems as I do...but when you try and use the motion detection option (built in to the software) it just keeps triggering/alarming with the smallest of movements AND when there is nothing moving at all. I'll persevere by playing about with the settings to see if it improves but I feel a firmware/software update is the only answer. We shall see...

Thrilled with this does exactly as it says . I'm rubbish with technology but managed to set this up easily with minimal help to fix the camaraderie . Would totally recommend

I purchased Kare 4 Channel CCTV DVR system for my husband to view wildlife at night in the garden & he is highly delighted with the product & the results.Being elderly & not very technically minded when he first installed it there were two or three items he did not understand so we contacted maxtopuk@gmail and found the customer service 1st class our queries were answered immediately. This system came with everything that was needed for the install I carried out. The cables provided were plenty enough to cover an install of 4 cameras into a reasonably sized semi detached house. The cameras themselves, although dark grey, did not stand out when fixed to the property. In terms of setting up and configuring the unit itself it was very easy to setup. Pretty much ready out of the box. All that was needed was a few basic things such as date, time etc. UPNP enabled on the box so very little needed doing in terms of network/Internet was needed. The only major thing that was required was the configuring of a domain name via the likes of no-ip.com or dyndns.com to facilitate use on a UK ISP.My only gripe with this system and this is just something I think could be needed due to today's modern equipment is that the HDMI port be enabled out of the box. I had to connect a VGA monitor first to enable this.Fantastic cctv system for the price.
