Good oats, are they really gluten free?
I’m very conflicted on these oats, I like them better than the Bob’s redmill oats, however everytime I receive a shipment (I’ve bought 4times) they have a different taste and texture. The first two times they tasted more grainy, not a great explanation I know but they had a distinctive almost grassy taste that we liked. Now they are more bland and normal oat tasting. Also are they really gluten free is they say they are processed on machinery that also does wheat?

Will Buy These Oats Again.
Tastes very good and the texture is great. I was buying bulk thick cut oats at the local markets but now they only carry quick oats. Hard to describe the actual difference in flavor of the Great River oats compared to what i was buying before, the bulk was ok, these oats are better. I literally measure out a heaping quarter cup into a deep bowl, add water, and microwave it. I don’t add any sweeteners or milks, occasionally a half a banana, so the taste is important to me :)

If you want thick oats keep looking...
I don't like the thickness of these oats. I didn't expect that they were extra thick but figured with old fashioned oats I'd be getting some thickness...I didn't. They're very similar to quick oats. In fact I only cook them 3 minutes or they're mush.

Better texture than Quaker old fashioned
I have purchased Quaker old fashioned oats for a while , opting for generic as found. Cub Foods had a good knock off. This is as good or better than Quaker and organic and supports a smaller company. Give it a try. I eat it every morning . Put in a corning small casserole... fill wioth enough water to cover the top , microwave on high for two minutes. Cool a bit then top with two heeeeeeping tablespoons of good yogurt . some sliced fruit. YUM! Great River Milling Old Fashioned Regular Rolled Oats, 32 Ounce (Pack of 4)

Good for the price
Some of the oats were crumbled inside the package into tiny pieces. Not exactly the highest quality control (at least in this first bag I've gotten into) but still better priced than any other oats I've purchased in the past. For cost effectiveness it's great. I only make granola and bake with rolled oats anyways so it's not the end of the world that there are some smaller pieces mixed in.

It's OK but not spectacular
I buy old fashioned rolled oats for the texture, I like them to have some chew to them and hold up to microwave cooking. While this brand was quite economical, it was not what I was used to buying. I usually get the store generic brand at Aldi or one of the chain stores in my area, they are rolled flat grains but much thicker than these. This brand is rolled but closer to quick oats in texture, quite thin and just about disappear into the mass when cooked. The thick cut ones were out of stock when I ordered, maybe I will give them a try next time. I'm also getting some hull bits that got missed, I guess it comes with extra fiber.Update: Of the four bags in the box I ordered, three have had bad seals on the back seam and broken open. I was trying to save one by pouring it into a half gallon mason jar and the seam split even further, spilling it all over the counter. The tops are heat sealed tightly but the long seam down the backs of the bags, not so much. I'm very careful with dry goods, especially in the summer, so this extra aggravation is not worth the low purchase price.

Great taste
This is some good pasta flour. I wish it were a little less expensive, but it makes great tasting pasta.
