Tasty Savoury Flavouring
When making vegetarian versions of beef dishes such as chilli con carne I sometimes use yeast extract to give the required savoury taste. I was therefore interested to try out this alternative. The bag that I received had come open in transit – I am not sure if this is an issue with the way it was transported or more of an issue with the bag itself. The bag is resealable which is handy. The powder mixes well with hot water. I have used this in a couple of recipes, and I am very happy with the taste. You should be aware that there is a lot of salt in this. Using the powder at the recommended level (20g to a litre of water) means that I can make about 20 meals with one pack.

Actually pretty good!
I love this product. This powder tastes like chicken but is purely plant based. It adds a great flavor to pretty much any savory dish, so I would highly recommend this product. There is just one issue though. I'm not entirely sure if it's gluten free or not, as it mentions that it has starch in it, but doesn't specify which kind. Also because it has starch, it can thicken soups, sauces, and stews, which isn't so much of a problem, but it is something to be aware of. Overall, I recommend this product.

Too salty - but otherwise tasty
I make a lot of soups so was interested to see how the Chickenish flavour might work in them.I liked the smell of the very fine powder - it did really smell chicken-y. It does say you can add it straight to the pot, but fearing it might go lumpy I mixed it with some cold water first. (n.b. the instructions are tiny - I had to find a magnifying glass to read them). It made a pleasantly milky stock - 2tbsp to 1 litre water as recommended - and didn't go at all lumpy.I often add a chicken stockpot to leek and potato soup, so added Chickenish instead. The smell was pleasant and similar to the chicken stockpot. The final taste was good - but very salty. I'm not an anti-salt freak - but I did really think it was far too much - and, I'm sure, at an unhealthy level. What a pity - I really liked the chicken flavour - it was a great substitute. I will experiment with using a smaller amount, but I do wonder how flavourful it will be without so much salt in it.Pricewise - at time of review - it works out at about 85p a portion (of 1 litre) so is considerably more expensive than its stock pot counterpart.

Amazing flavour but a little expensive
These little packs of vegetable bouillon powder are very handy. You get four 40g packs and each pack makes 2l of vegetable stock. It’s amazing for soup and I could really taste the difference when using the Uhh-mami powder. It’s expensive, however, priced at £11.96 (at the time of review) but it’s perhaps worth it if you’re cooking a special meal.

Tasty but expensive
The packets of stock arrived wrapped in plastic. Each pack is re-sealable, which is nice as you only need two teaspoons per 1/2 litre of water. The instructions on the back of the packet are a bit sparse and I found that it went very clumpy if I added it directly to my casserole, hence one of my four packets wasted. I found it is much better to add a small amount of cold water to make a paste, then add it to your dish. The taste is good and packs a lot of punch, but it is very expensive for what it is. This, along with the discarded lumpy first attempt makes me give it only 3 stars.

Vegetable bouillon
This is really tasty, good quality vegetable bullion powder. It dissolves well and adds lots of delicious flavour.I got the smaller packs because I like that I can use one up before opening another - I've experienced bouillon drying into a solid lump in the past so I'm hoping that by using the smaller packs this won't happen if I am not able to use them up quickly.Fingers crossed for a mixed pack of all flavours from this brand as they are fabulous in ramen, and I'd love to try all of the flavours.

Tastes good, but extremely expensive if you're not vegan
So let me start by saying that I am not a vegan nor particularly bothered by organic food, but I thought I would give this a try to see if it tasted any good. The conclusion is that it does! I used it last night to make up some stock for a chicken and seafood paella by adding 10g to 500ml of hot water. The power is very fine and dissolves easily into the water and has a very nice "fishy" background flavour with plenty of savoury umami-ness.The packet is vac-packed and sealed, but when opened the contents fluff up no problem. The sealing strip on the inside of the bag works well once it is cleared of compacted powder. I would prefer to see more detail on the list of ingredients to see exactly what it contains, as spices and flavours from natural vegetable extracts really doesn't mean anything. The product is also very high in salt (45% by weight) and so needs to be used quite sparingly.Whilst this is a great addition to the store cupboard if you are a strict vegan, those of us who are not will find this product very expensive. For example, the same amount of stock this 400g pouch will make up (20 litres) could be made using normal fish stock cubes for around half the price.A good product, which tasted very nice, but at a premium price.

Ugh.... No. Just... no.
I opened this and the smell was just foul. Utterly foul. Totally repulsive and disgusting. I'm not even going to attempt to make any bouillon with this and use it, it would just ruin the dish if I tried. This is going straight in the bin. Give this a miss. It's not even remotely like chicken stock.
