Q: Does anyone know if this dome works for the hero 5 session??

it worked with my hero 5, but practicing with it is key. its not as easy as it looks to get the right picture.

Q: Can I use the stick without the dome?

I very much doubt you can use the stick without the dome since the mounting hole is in the dome itself. The "stick" doesn't work that well under water anyway as the trigger seems to be under powered against the force of deeper water. It may work well at the surface but I tried it in 15 feet deep water and nothing worked no matter how much I "pulled the trigger".
