Excellent customer serivice provided!
There was problem with delivery .The item was originally ordered at the end of November last year , but it did not arrived as planned (that is until 10 of January 2014).Because of that I e-mailed Fotodiox , and they agreed to re-sent the item .Ten days later it was at my door.As for the adapter itself it even exceeded my expectations.Originally I intended to use it with a Canon 550D for which it was designed for (among many others digital bodies). Worked flawlessly with all my M42 lenses (Carl Zeiss Flektogon 20/2.8 , Flektogon 35/2.8 , Tessar 50 and Pentacon 135) .Then decided to have a go at a Canon EOS 1 first series 35 film camera. Despite being officialy described as incompatible with the above model , it worked well with all the lenses (with a sole exception of Flektogon 35 but this is due to somehow lengthened section between m42 screw thread and the camera mirror - it simply hits that section while flipping).A very pleasant surprise! Thank you Fotodiox!

Great value! Good quality!
I bought this branded adapter for reliability and quality of construction, rather than lesser quality cheaper ones. This adapter turned out pretty nice, with a quality metal finishing. The only thing that could be improved, and this is me being picky, is the small hole that stops the adapter from rotating loose: this hole is just a bit larger than the pin that fixates it, which gives the whole adapter+lens set a feeling of being a bit loose (which is not). I'm talking a fraction of mlillimeter here, but is enough for you to feel it.Other than that, it is of a great value because of what it allows you to do: use older and much cheaper prime lenses.Highly recommended!

Vintage lenses on a modern camera
Perfect adapter for installing the vintage lens to modern EOS cameras! I installed MC Helios 44-M-4 (fix 58mm F/2) and it works great! True EOS-cameras does not support jumping diaphragm and has to be set manually, as well, and focus)))

shit happenz
Earlier I ordered a few pieces of this black aluminium m42 to eos adaptor from foto-diox and all went well, very well, so well, that I decided to order one more piece, eg this item, and than all started to to turn out NOT well. The piece I received was a black aluminium one but had not, like on the photo, the flange for pressing the aperture pin. So I sent a complaint to fotodiox, who were so nice to send me a replacement piece. But unfortunately this piece, although it did have that flange, turned out totally different from the ones I had ordered before, and again differed from the black aluminium one on the picture. This replacement piece was of very heavy blank and sharp-edged ill manufactured metal, and had an absolute bad fit on the camera, damaging the mount, so it turns out UNusable.Made a complaint again to fotodiox, and now they want me to pay for the postage of returnsending and all the more keep open the possibility that they will judge that the second piece is "ok" and thus will not refund me.OK, I decided to buy at fotodiox coz previous were so good, and now foto-diox completely lets me down. All the faults on their side and my money gone for having two unusable adaptors.A one-star rating is in fact too much, well lets say one star for the fuzz ;-(FA

Avoid this seller
The worst ever product & customer support I've ever experienced.I bought 4 lens mount from this seller as I read a couple of positive review on the internet.1. M42 to EOS & M42 to Fuji adapterAltough they are advertised to support infinity focus, they do not in fact. When I focus to infinity everything is out of focus.I had to reverse focus ring to make it focused. But I did not take this as a serious problem as it seems too minor issue2. C/Y to EOS & C/Y to Fuji adapterThey had much worse problem.C/Y to EOS did not work properly with Canon 5D Mark II.With focused to infinity, the mirror was stuck open after sutter release.I tried Canon 7D as well sometimes had no issue sometimes had same issueI also found light leak using C/Y to Fuji adapter. The light came through where lens release button located. So I contacted the seller and explained these issues. They told me to return the item and I sent back the item.No response for long time. I contacted again but they said the item not delivered yet.But I knew the item already delivered as I had tracking number.Contacted again and they said the item was under inspection this time.Another 10 days or so replacement for C/Y to EOS was delivered without any notice. However the replacement had same issue and I asked for refund for C/Y to Fuji adapter including return postageHere is their reply."Hello We did check the adapter when it arrived back here, and found that it was not a flawed item. That is why the refund department did not refund you shipping in either direction. As a courtesy to you I will refund the shipping to the point of what we charged you to ship, and use that amount to refund a portion of the return shipping."They are GENEROUS enough to give me a courtesy of £3.48 in fact return postage costed me £18.55 as they are in USThis is summary of what I experienced with this seller so please avoid this seller.

Does the job well
This adapter works well. The only thing is that there is a bit of play on the mount (very minor). Shouldn't be a problem though. This is common with most adapters.

Ottimo materiale

Works like a charm but...
This adapter does everything it is supposed to do for the most part. It allows me to use my old M42 mount lenses with my Canon DSLR. Just to note, this adapter does NOT have the auto focus pass through so you will have to focus the old fashioned way by using your eye. This is expected for the price point and not a minus. As previously said by other reviewers, the threading layout of the adapter puts the f stop and distance scales at about a 45 degree angle to the right of the camera. This allows you to read the f number and distance scales without them being blocked by the built in flash assembly on the camera body. This position makes it difficult to use the Manual/Auto switch on lenses equipped with this feature. But this is mostly a non issue since that switch was really just a Depth of Field view that allowed the aperture to remain open while focusing. If you used the light meter in the old camera, the aperture closed down regardless of the switch position anyway. Since the adapter pushes the aperture pin in when the lens is attached, the function of this switch is negated. This brings me to why I only gave it 4 stars. One of my lenses does not have the Manual/Auto switch and I noticed that the aperture does not fully stop down to f/22 because the pin is not depressed far enough. I noticed the same thing if I set my other lens to Auto. The aperture doesn't fully stop down and remains at about f/9 or so rather than f/16. This can easily be fixed with a drop of super glue or something to build up the mating surface. It doesn't take much to do this, just a drop where the pin is supposed to rest and then add one once the first drop has cured. This is done with the lens removed from the adapter of course.Other than the above mentioned problem, these work like a charm. I keep the adapter mounted on the lenses-I have two adapters so far- and use the Canon lens cap for the rear element. It makes for faster lens installation and the adapters come off the lens easily if needed. I have not had a problem with the adapter staying in the camera when removing the lens/adapter and since I don't thread the lenses into the mount while on the camera I don't worry about over tightening. Overall I am very happy with this product and would highly recommend it.

Very good
Now I can use the m42 mount type lens mount in my canon xsi.Fits nice. nothing more to say here. You get: - Only manual focus. (There is another one whit Dandelion AF confirm chip). - An odd live view performance in M exposure mode. You always have to let get in much more light (overexpose) to be able to look and focus through LCD screen. So, you have to overexpose to get focus and after that, expose properly to take the shot. This is only a big pain when you are in a really low light situations°°. - A difficult focus achievement truth the tinys Rebel-type viewfinders. - An old prime lens mounted on your new brand DSLR, with a slightly twisted final look that don't screw your images. This twist is with the Hellios M44, Super Takumar and Rokinon lenses and I don't know if that happen with other m42 mount type lenses. Anyhow is harmless to image quality. - 9,00 Dollars(Approx.) minus in you bank account, so do your estimations carefully. If you have several of this lenses or/and have bad eyes, perhaps it will be good to change your camera focus screen. I don't try it this yet and I don't know if this is a convenient step to take, so be careful.look here : focusingscreen.com°°Update 02/2012, canon XSI (450D) owners:To solve or reduce the dark LCD problem when you are using live view in M exposure, you can pop the in-camera flash up, doing that, the lcd will show you a better lighted image to focus. I find in certain cases this method better than make exposure changes. This work with my canon Rebel XSI but I don't know if this work for other cameras. You can also change to Av, P, or A-DEP exposure mode to make the LCD (live view) screen work properly. (Better than flash method)The problem with the live view mentioned before is may be caused because the lens is manually stoped down to read the entering ligth, or because of the lack of some electronic contact in the lens. It is different with the auto focus lenses because the camera always read the ligth with the lens diaphragm fully opened to let the LCD show you a proper lighted -exposed- image, except in night photography, sadly. The canon Rebel XSI (at least mine) can't do nothing (or don't want to ,'cause she's rebel anyway) when you are in a very dark scene, may be because of the lack of any method to simulate and show you a proper exposed image in the LCD before you take the picture, so you see in the LCD what you see through the view finder, not the final image).Sorry for my English.
