Much better than previous I2 models. Solar charging is a major upgrade that works well and I see a big improvement when being outdoors all day. Screen contrast is better along with the backlight at night. Crisp and clear. New watch faces are nice because of the type of numeric digits that are offered and feel they look better. Plenty of other features as well. Simple all black loon with no red or colored accents is a bonus.

Upgraded from my solar instinct 2. I love the new features like Rucking, the crisper display and the watch face. The flash light is a nice upgrade as well.

I love this watch. I went from the garmin instinct 2 tactical to an epix 2 back to instinct 3 tactical. I love the durability, the battery life and the overall rugged look and feel. I love that it still feels like a watch without the overwhelming feeling of a smartwatch. But packs on all of the relevant features.

Love this watch great for anything

I purchased the Solar 45" Tactical and found the screen area to be as small as the Instinct 1, with a narrower band width. The built-in watch faces are very limited, and the data displayed on the screen depends heavily on the chosen watch face, restricting customization. Many of the available options feel unnecessary. The one standout feature is the solar charging capability.

Received my new Garmin about 3 weeks ago, and I love everything about it. I am a lifelong 1st Responder and was looking for a quality, rugged, smartwatch with excellent battery life. I am have previously owned several G-Shocks, but always scratch the face. And until recently, I had an Apple Watch with a ruggedized protective cover. The problem with Apple, is that I’d have to charge the battery on a nightly basis, which isn’t helpful for tracking sleep, etc. After much research, I settled on the Instinct 3 Tactical solar. Ordered the 45mm, wished I’d have gotten the 50mm. Other than that, I love this watch. Very rugged, and the buttons are placed in a way that you don’t hit them when bending your wrist. Well designed, looks great. We added a tempered glass screen protector for extra protection. This watch has more functions than I will use. I like the layout of information on the screen. And the battery? 28 days. And, if you’re out in the sun, it will keep charging itself. No more nightly charging, and I get a full sleep report each morning. If you want the color watch faces, you’ll have to consider another model.
