Gefen, Large Pickled Cucumber in Brine, 19oz (2 Pack)

These pickles are in brine. That's basically salt water. So, if you're not used to salty pickles, you won't like them. They are as crisp as other pickles. You won't taste dill or other spices as you would with the regular dill pickles you buy in the stores in jars. In my opinion you do get a lot of pickles for the price even though it seems price is high. You have to factor in that they are from Israel and Kosher. I've never had brine pickles and thought I'd try. I think the more I eat them, the more I will like them. You don't have to eat more than one as they are the longer skinnier cucumbers. I don't have any regrets ordering them.

When I reviewed my package it's was fine but when I opened it pickle juice was ask over the place. Not happy about that

Man it's so hard to write a review of pickles. I hope you feel my pain on this one, because, well, it's just not that difficult to make pickles. Put cucumbers in a pickling solution and sit around. Then eat.I come from Israel. We love pickled everything. When we go out to eat there's always a bunch of pickled vegetables to add to any meal. Pickled radishes. Pickled cucumbers. Pickled mushrooms (yeck). Pickled carrots. Just Google search "Chamutzim". That's Hebrew for "sour" but in this case "pickled."So here we are, in the glorious United States, and if you want real-life Israeli-style pickles what you want is skin-on brined in saltwater cucumbers. THESE ARE THOSE!!There are many brands, and it would be unfair of me to mention the others in this particular review on this particular vendor's particular product. However, let me say that THESE GEFEN PICKLES ARE THE REAL THING. Get a can. Open it up. Toss one down. Thank me later.

Vinegar pickles are horrible. I want the pickles I remember as a kid, from barrels in the 1950s. Turns out those pickles are lacto-fermented, which means there's no vinegar used to create the sour taste.You can find recipes on how to ferment them yourself, but I don't have the time; so, where to buy pickles that are fermented?I was hoping Israeli pickles would be the answer; but at least Geffen does not have the flavor I sought. Its ingredients are large gherkin-sized cucumbers, Brine & acetic acid. The dill taste is extremely mild.You might like them anyway. They do not have a strong acidic taste. Their size = large gherkin, but it is Dill. I don't think they're salty enough; they are crisp, & they are canned, so they were cooked. There were 11 in the can, each a good 5 in Long; but relatively narrow, like gherkins.I added salt & garlic powder, so we'll see if that works.They're good enough if you're not a stickler for the brine taste. I like mine much more briny & garlicky, so will look elsewhere next time.Yell at me, if my review is unclear.

My biggest complaint is the manner in which these cans were shipped. Cans containing liquid should have been shipped in a box. Instead, the cans were shipped in a padded envelope, which allowed the cans to be quite dented during transit. Not good!!I have purchased these before and they are quite good.

My mother-in-law made Salt Pickles. These were the closest pickles we have found to the ones she made. We want them in a larger size because we ate a whole can at one time!! They were great!!7
