Drawing Near: Daily Readings for a Deeper Faith Paperback – February 28, 2002

This daily reading is one in a series. As I have read many of MacArthur’s works like this, it is excellent for daily study. Strength for Today is probably my favorite, so I will return to that for 2025. However, each of these is well organized, clear, and concise. There is a focus for each month that is unpacked with precision each day. I highly recommend this or one in the series!

MacArthur has a gift of writing from a sound biblical perspective, and at the same time, his work is very practical and helpful for everyday living. His work is quite remarkable when you stop to think about it. This devotional is no acceptation. Well done!. Thank you

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐This book has been a transformative resource in my spiritual journey. Rooted in solid biblical teaching, each devotion encourages a deeper walk with Christ, aligning beautifully with Reformed theology. It consistently draws me closer to Jesus as Lord and Savior, reminding me of His grace and sovereignty. A must-read for those seeking to grow in faith and understanding!

This devotional is directed towards reading the Bible. Everything in this book is backed up by scripture and it tells you where to find the scripture in the bible that backs up what the book says. If you read this book a long with all of the scripture references and extra studies you will have read the complete bible by the time you finish this devotional. Reading this devotional along with reading the actual scripture is like reading the Bible and getting a mini sermon helping to explain what the scripture just said. I highly recommend this devotional.

I really like this book as it is set up for the reader to read a page a day. There is a scripture at the top, and then further discussion on how it applies to common life today. Its really inspiring and thought provoking. If you have more time on any given day, further scripture is listed for you to look up in your own Bible to read further on this topic. Even if I know I only have a little bit of time before rushing off into my day, I know I can just read the one page, but if I have more time, I can take it deeper and pray over what the topic is covering. Very helpful to me, as it fits my schedule, and makes me think deeper into scripture and know just how to apply it to my day each morning.

One of the best daily devotional book I have ever read. I just finished the year and learned so my more about the Bible and God in a personal way. Love the daily suggested bible verses to further understand each day’s message. Great investment.

Each daily devotional is based on a scripture, with accompanying thoughts by John MacArthur, a very clear Bible teacher. Plus, there is a prayer suggestion based on the scripture as well as a final reference to other scriptures to consider reading that are related to the daily one. I have found greater meaning from the scriptures by following these daily devotionals.

If you are looking for a good solid devotional with a little meat on it's bones, this is an excellent choice. So many devotionals tell us a "feel good story" based on a biblical principle, and if we are lucky we can still remember it half way through the day. These are not a "true devotional", they are totally secular. The only thing that will help us get through our days, (and more so as times grow darker), is reading and hearing truth from God's Word. He does a good job with this devotional. I hope you will give this a chance, I don't think you will be disappointed.
