Loving it. A perfect and well designec knock box.
Way better than some fancy ones. The design is unique, practical, and works very well. Look no further if you are looking for an affordable, well-made, and practical knock box. This is it.

Simple, effective, easy to use & clean
Great little knock box for your espresso pucks. Grips well and does not slide. Easy to knock using the lip supported by a vertical column at the edge of the "cup". Plenty of room for your puck to fall into the cup. Simple to rinse or wash. Does not occupy a lot of visual space (this may be a feature or drawback depending upon your personal preferences) in your espresso domain.

Easy and effective
This knock box was recently rated by Serious Eats as their top choice, and I understand why. The design is entirely different from the usual bar-across-the-bin style, but works exceptionally well. Just give one good rap at the edge of the portafilter near the edge of the knockout platform (for lack of a better term) and the puck will pop right out. It's nice and deep, no splattering of spent grounds, and easier to clean with no bar in the way. It is plastic, but seems sturdy and well made; one nice touch is a rubber-type non-slip ring around the base to keep it from sliding around. Overall, a very satisfactory purchase.

Effective, Nice Size, & Much Nicer than the Empty Protein Powder Container We Were Using.
Just got this little guy today, and of course I had to make myself an espresso to try it out. What can I say? It works! Nothing falls out of the filter when you tap it against the pad. The pad seems sturdy enough to take a decent amount of abuse - I don't plan on abusing it, but its whole purpose is to have something knocked against it every morning by someone who hasn't had their coffee yet! I was surprised at how many grounds this is going to be able to hold. I was worried it was going to be too small, but it's a good size and it won't take up too much space on the counter. Looks simple to clean - we compost our grounds, so we just have dump them into the compost bin. Mine looks a little different than the picture above because it doesn't seem to have the three orange round things on the side. But I can't see what they are from here so they may just be part of the ad or something. But overall--this was a great buy at an affordable price. Thank you!

Solid build quality, works well.
Simple design that made me think "why didn't I think of this earlier". Very solid build quality, and works very well.

Awesome and Inexpensive!
Great knock box. It is stable and quiet. It is easy to clean. The biggest concern you will have is whether to put it next to the kitchen sink or next to the espresso machine. Decisions!

It’s a little big and I’m not a fan of hard plastic material
Simple and effective design but the material of the box could have been improved to a more durable and softer material to absorb the impact better. The box is made of HARD plastic. If being knocked on often everyday, I can se that it will crack for sure under a thin rubber edge cushion. The only material that can absorb the shock or physical impact the best is rubber or silicone...and NEVER hard plastic, ceramic, metal, or wood. That goes for the noise minimizing as well. I tried knocking my portafilter on the small thin rubber/silicone cushion of this knock box and it was still loud, even with the rubber cushion ring on the outer bottom of the box, just like I was knocking on the edge of the plastic trash can. I do not pack my portafilter tightly so only need one or two knocks at the most for the puck of coffee to come out. Unless the box already has some wasted coffee, the puck screen dropped loudly on the bottom when the box is empty. The size of the box is also big for me. I plan on emptying the knock box everyday as I don’t want the coffee waste sit in it without a lid for few days on the kitchen counter.A knock box is a must-have item if you use a puck screen for your portafilter, as you don’t want the screen to fall in the trash can when emptying the portafilter, or try to get it out using your fingers. Other than that, you don't really need a noisy knock box to clutter your countertop. Or just look for a knock box that is made of softer material. It will last longer that way with all the knocking and also eliminate the noise for real. The hunt for a good compact knock box is still on for me.

Great knock box for coffee grounds
Update: I tried to see if I could get it to work without the basket falling out of the portafilter. I realized we were hitting it too hard! A few gentle taps and the puck/grounds come out without the basket coming off. I now believe this is a great design. Easy to empty and clean. Highly recommended and updated to 5 stars.Original review: We have a small espresso machine, a Breville Bambino Plus, and emptying the portafilter has always been a difficult, messy task. Saw a basket like this at our friend's house, except it was the "traditional" design with a round part across the middle of the bucket. When researching on Amazon, this one seemed like a different design and had high ratings so thought we'd try it.The bucket is a hard plastic but has a rubber layer on the lip that you knock the portafilter against. Overall, it works well but it is a challenge keeping the basket from falling out of the portafilter. We've developed a process of hitting it, pushing the basket fully in, and trying again. It usually takes 3 or 4 taps to empty the grounds. If you hit it too hard, the basket will wall into the bucket.Based on our experience, it seems the style of bucket that has the round knocking part across the middle of the bucket would work better, as it would prevent the basket from falling out. Is it enough for us to get rid of this one and replace it? No, it works with the process we have come up with and is so much better then trying to empty it in a trash can or other methods we've tried. If were doing it all over again, I would be the other style over this one. Your experience may vary depending on what type of portafilter/basket system you have.
