I used to have Xacto blades when I was in high school in graphics art class to make our custom t shirts. We used them to cut out the design on the film. I always found them useful for many things at home, but I ended up losing them and would tell myself over the years how I really needed to get a new one. Well, I did some shopping and decided on this kit.WOW. This kit has everything you need. First, it’s VERY sturdy and easy to use. The blade stays firmly in place. There’s no wiggling or loose blades when using this. The kit comes with blades for every situation. It also has a blade sharpener. I’ve been using them for some crafts recently but I also use them around the house for various reasons. The case that it comes in is also very nice in keeping everything together with a sliding latch to keep it sealedThis kit is soo well priced and the quality is sooo great that it’d be silly not to grab it. I’ve been a bit on the fence when trying out certain Amazon Basics products, but I’ve got a bunch of different Amazon Basic items now and they never let me down. From Surge Protectors to Xacto blades, they got it all and they’re a bargain without sacrificing quality.I highly recommend this set. You won’t regret it.

If you can't get it on sale wait. The price changes often. First thing you do is throw away the tweezers. They are cheesy junk. You can find a decent pair that will fit in the case. Better still forget tweezers and use a mosquito or Kelly surgical clamp. Using a tool to change the blade can save a nasty cut. Next put the sharpening stone in a safe place. It will just fall out of the case. Replacement blades are so cheap and so difficult to properly sharpen that its cheaper to buy new ones. There is a nice assortment of blade types. I have not had the kit long enough to see how good the blades are. Not a big deal. As you use them up you can replace them with quality blades. The case is the star of the kit. It will securely hold 26 spare blades of any type you choose. They are easy to see and identify. The handle is nice. It is metal with rubber areas for comfort and a secure hold. The chuck is easy to operate and does not losen. It has a swivel top for detail work. Mine came with some sharp edges and points on the rubber. These were easily removed with another hobby knife. I bought this for the case and handle. I was not disappointed for under $10.

I have been using these blades for various crafts. I've cut paper, cloth, wood and even some very soft metal (pewter and small wires). The blades will not last forever, but for as long as they last (quite a long time depending on what you're cutting), they will hold their edge nicely.The handle is a nice fit for my large hands and is pretty comfortable.Overall, this is a great small set. I recommend it!
