A good, RO system for use under-sink, add tank for ice machines

EDIT: Waterdrop reached out to me and apologized for my service experience, and made it right. They really stretched to help solve my problem and I appreciate that. This is my second D6 unit in 3 years. The first one worked well with my nugget ice machine (when used with a pressure tank, which is required), until the pressure switch inside stopped working correctly. It started to short-cycle, shutting off at only 10 psi or so, which didn't allow the unit to charge the pressure tank and caused the sink faucet to barely flow. I purchased a replacement unit to keep my ice machine working, while reaching out to the company. I asked a question - could I buy a pressure switch that is used in the unit - but the company couldn't offer a pressure switch. Eventually, I took the unit apart (I'm reasonably knowledgeable about mechanical systems) and cleaned out the small pressure switch, reinstalled it, and the system pumped back up to 40 psi again (charging the tank).Overall, the D6 is a reasonable system - I like that it has a booster pump in it, and when you pair it with a small pressure tank it does very well, not horribly slow like the non-boosted systems. The filters are a bit expensive but convenient because they are single integrated cartridge units instead of the multiple individual stages used in other systems.(PS: if the system hadn't cleared up after cleaning the existing pressure switch, I had a similar - but different - pressure switch I was going to try in the application.)

Awesome service, awesome filter

Put one in my camper. Works amazing. After a year the faucet cracked. The customer service department worked it out with me and sent me a new one! They were absolutely amazing to work with. Love the filter, great service Harper W was the one that helped me through the process!

Overall Good Product

The media could not be loaded. I have never had an RO system before so its possible that some of this is common knowledge or common for RO systems in general but I wanted to share my overall newbie experience in case it helps someone like me.This RO system seems to work fairly well so far. A couple things I've noticed:1. It is pretty simple to install. The link to their YouTube video was the most helpful. The only thing that I really had an "issue" with is that the water line from my faucet was just a hair too thick so it wouldn't easily connect to the feed water adapter. I wasn't planning on writing a review so I didn't take pictures. Regardless, I just took a knife and scraped off some of the extra plastic on the line coming from the faucet and pressed hard and finally got it. After that it was a breeze.2. You will have to drill a hole into you drainpipe. It is super easy to do but just be aware that you'll have to do some drilling. (If you have little to no plumbing experience, don't be scared, PVC pipes are pretty easy and cheap to replace in the unlikely event that you'll need to replace a mistake during this installation. If you drill slowly, you'll be fine.)3. Before installing the RO system I had an outlet with space for two plugs. Both of them were already being used; one plug was for the dishwasher and the other was for the garbage disposal. If your setup is like mine, keep that in mind because you will have to plug this unit in under the sink. I ended up unplugging my dishwasher since we only really use it to dry dishes but I'll have to come up with a more permanent solution soon.4. As far as the operation, I'm pleased. The manual says it may take up to three seconds for water to start flowing. I haven't noticed that but there is a tiny delay. The biggest thing is that it does take awhile for the TDS count to "bottom out" I put it in quotes because it wont be zero but it will be significantly reduced. For example, before running through this RO system, the TDS count was just above 400ppm. This system reduced it to about 25ppm. Because it reduced it so much, I'm ok waiting. I will usually just fill up a large water bottle so I don't have to keep going back to the faucet. As you can see in the video, It took almost a full minute to get down to the 25 ppm range. I turned off the faucet then turned it back on right away and it took about 2-3 seconds. I turned it off and came back about 15 minutes later and it took about 45 seconds to get down to the 25 ppm range. Considering the waste water to filtered water is a little higher for this unit than other ones I've seen, its a little annoying to have to waste 45-60 seconds of water (32-ish oz) before you get to the lower ppm range. All things considered, though, being that the filtered water I have been drinking from the fridge comes in around 270, I don't mind waiting for good clean water. The solution for me was to invest in some large water bottles and fill them all up at the same time. It saves a few trips to the kitchen that way too.5. Finally, it is really quiet which is nice. Its sound is mostly masked by the sound of the running water coming out.

RO filter

Great product. Great taste.

Love it.

Easy to install and works well. Not sure how it rates up to traditional osmosis systems as I didn’t measure the solids each time. This measures continuously which is nice. It the solids are initially higher than I like, I use the first few ounces on our plants.

Junk

Piece of junk. Flooded my whole kitchen and ruined the kitchen cabinets. Ended up using a Brita filter instead.
