I have a leopard gecko..around 7months old.This isnt a dusty substrate, holds up well and isopods like it. Gecko loves it as it keeps its structure after digging pretty well.Read the instructions as you dont need a drainage layer which is freaking awesome.

When your starting out with your gecko or other reptile this is a safe solid substrate to use 100% recommend

DustyThe black sand is pretty but the soil is very dusty and dries out too quickly for soil invertebrates. Had to soak when arrived as soil was water resistant and wanted to float and sand sank to bottom.

After having my leopard gecko’s biotank setup and active for almost a year now, I noticed the substrate was looking shallow. I purchased this because it’s highly rated in a biotank group I’m in. I really like the texture of this dirt. I just gently mixed it into the very top layer of the tank so I wouldn’t disturb the cleanup crew. If you look along the side of the tank you can see the newly added layer. This is a 40 gl long, it was enough to add another inch or two to half of the tank so I am wishing I had purchased the larger bag that was available.
