I'm not sure the size of the quail you mention. I think these are a good size for a small chicken but, I would hesitate to provide it for one smaller than that. I will see if I can add a picture for you. To be precise most of the pieces (flakes) while not round are roughly 1/4 inch in diameter and flat.

Q: Are the size of theses oyster shell small enough for bantam size chickens?

I've never had Bantams but where most oyster shell is chunky these are more like small thin flakes. I know my chicks consume them in larger amounts as opposed to regular oyster shell pieces.

Q: Do my chickens still need grit if I give them this?

Yes you still need to feed them grit this just helps increase the amount of calcium in the chicken so that the eggs have good shells and that they're not pulling the calcium out of there bodies to make the egg shells so yes you the grit is used to grind the food that they eat this helps them produce better eggs
