I’ve been using two of these Tapo TP-Link 2K Pan/Tilt cameras for the past few months—one set up in my living room and the other in my attic home office—and I’ve been really impressed with the performance. I was initially concerned about lag or connectivity issues, especially with the one in the attic, but both cameras stay connected to Wi-Fi reliably.The pan and tilt functions are super responsive. I was a bit skeptical due to pricing and some of the reviews I read however, I’m so glad I purchased these. They are absolutely fantastic! From the set up, to the installation, to every day use, these are very user friendly. I purchased two 360 swivel cameras and a doorbell camera. The clarity, even at night, is very clear. You can remote access your 360 cameras to move them side to side and up and down when you aren’t home. The clarity is beyond measure. The distance in which the camera detects movement is vast; it’s picked up cars and people up to 100 to 120 feet. There is a minor lag but honestly it hasn’t been an issue for us. We absolutely love these cameras and if we need more, or have friends in the market for cameras, we will absolutely be recommending this brand 🙌🏼

UPDATE 7-20-25The issue with the camera shutting down appears to be a voltage drop in the power wire. I have upgraded rating to 4 stars. Due to the location of the camera, the USB-A cable was insufficient for the 60' length I needed. I found an alternative AC connection so the wire is now 30' and has been stable for about 1 day. The previous report of low WiFi signal was not accurate. I will probably send the WiFi estender back, since I have at leat "good" WiFi at -42db without it.Support though is still bad. Yet another unansweredd support email to them. I get the confirmation that it was receved and never hear anything else. Oh well, the camera is working as expected now at least.While the setup process on the app goes well, it is not at all good if there is a problem.2) Although i had the online set up instructions, some parts of it pass lightly over certain steps and features and that can make it difficult to see what went wrong when something doesn't work. For example, I had no motion following function at first, although all of the settings appears to be per the instructions. One little check box and removine another allwed that to work.3) While there is a sensitivity setting for Person Detection, it is hard to find the point where it won't see the dogs and still see a person. Ring, for example, and Furbo, can eleimiate false alerts completely by setting yes or no to people or pets.4) Althouth my TP-Loink AX1800 WiFi can be picked up by my phone from half a block down the street, one camera dept shutting down. I followed in structions and recycled the power and it connected. For a short time, then Off again. I have now bought and set up a TP-Link ac1200 extender. After about an hour it is still connected, but let's see what it does after a couple of weeks and when we are not home. Another $20.5) After all the setup and gaining the expected function using the Tapo app, I found that it automatically connected the cameras to my Alexa account. This is a vital purpose of Alexa-compatibility. On my main Echo Show, I can verbally call up 3 Ring cameras, either all at one or individually, including answering the door remotely. I call up one of the Tapo cameras on the Alexa App first and it was "Unavailable, although properly connected. It also DID NOT show up on the Echo. Yes, it loaded the camera, but the picture was also unavavailable.This part is KEY: Do not click on the have TP-Link call me on Amazon and do not email them or try the chat-bot. The bot just send you to the RAQ pages, no one will EVER call and no one at TP-Link or Tapo has EVER returned an emails as the "auto-reply" promised. Get ther phone number and call them, no matter how long you have to wait. That is the ONLY WAY to get support.6) Yes, the support person on the phone helped me "fix" it. With no explanation of what might be wrong, I had to remove both cameras from Alexa (in the app), then find them and re-add them. How is this boint to work when I NEED to see the camera right now or when we are away? Right. It won't. How oftern will a reset/re-add be necessary? How oftern will I need to disconnect and reconnect power?If you really need security it would likely be better to pay more and get a pro-level system. This is more or a toy and real security as it seems so far.
