Good low cost thermocouples

The media could not be loaded. Tried it at 450C for ~5h, and it still works great. The heat shrink cooked off. The fiberglass insulation is fine aside from the blue pigment which disappeared or turned white. The brown on the insulation in one section is probably gunk from the oven condensing at the entrance to the stove, not from the thermocouple (but judge for yourself). Temps seem plausible, but presumably no better than K type usually is. Seems like the next thing to go at higher temps would be the fiberglass or the bead. Tried with a heat gun on high and hit "530C" without further immediate degradation.

These are kind of a commodity in the temperature measuring world, so not looking for anything special. But they look and perform as expected, and are cheap.

cheap and good

I was not sure when buying if these thermocouples will work at all since they were so cheap but they are well made. All of them work and in defined accuracy. My only complaint is that the outer cover is made of fiber glass which is annoying to work with since the tiny fiberglass gets all over you and start to itch.

Fragile outer wrap on wires

After a few uses the outer wrap on the leads wears and tears such that the insulation on the two sensor wires is exposed. This happens in particular at the "corners" where the leads take 180 degree turns to fold them up when packaged. These "corners" are persistent, it appears the sensor wires have "memory". The corners also cause the leads to tangle with each other when setting up and stowing. More durable material should be used for the outer jacket. Hopefully the insulation on the sensor wires is more durable.Otherwise, the leads work fine so far, and readings appear accurate although no attempt was made to check calibration since accuracy to a degree or two is sufficient for my applications.

nice set of thermocouples. Good for many high temperature locations. Good buy.

They work.

These give excellent results with the max31856 with below 1C deviation from an rtd probe. I removed the connectors which are not compatible with the screw tabs that come with the module. With calibration this looks like it will be very accurate. These fit inside of a 3mm id thermowell. These are double sheathed with fiberglass. I have not tested the upper limits.

Small bead at wire junction

The bead on these are smaller then a pen tip. As a result there is a large amount of fluctuation +\- 15 C in a mixing liquid with heating application. I had to get creative with the averaging technique but the end data was great
