Q: I need an analog radio that can be controlled using an on/off timer. Is the power switch a mechanical power so it comes back when power is restored ?

The answer is yes. There's a master power switch on the back. Just do a Google image search to see for yourself. But, just to clarify your question. You want to leave the radio on and have a timer in the power outlet so that the radio turns on and off according to the timer, right?

I received one a month ago with September 2012 sticker on the back from Dependable Resources fulfilled by Amazon. Sent it back. Reordered about a week later. Received one sold by and fulfilled by Amazon with October 2012 sticker. Was a little leery but so far so good. Love it. Was my understanding radios manufactured after Sept 2012 were okay.
