The review I wish I saw—and why this deserves 5 stars (even if it’s not perfect)
The media could not be loaded. A lot of what I see other people saying is slightly misleading. I see a mix of:•AAAA AMAZING PERFECT!!•extremely underwhelming.•Good but... *proceeds to list fatal flaws*Here's my honest two cents. What it does well, what it doesn't, and why I'm never owning a TV without one again. Let's get into it.Immersion: This thing is insane. If you’ve never experienced anything like it before, prepare to be hooked. It adds a whole new layer to the experience—it’s not just watching anymore, it’s experiencing. Explosions light up the room, emotional scenes set the mood, and suddenly your TV feels alive. It's hard to find words for how much it changes your enjoyment of what you're watching. ColorsResponse and HDR: The responsiveness is great, no noticeable lag. (It supports 4K at 144Hz, and if you need 8K for your TV… well, you’re probably crazy, but it does handle it at 60Hz.) I’ve seen camera-based systems, and honestly, they don’t even come close in speed. Not at all. HDR has been great for me too, though it really just depends on your TV. If you’re seeing complaints about that, I wouldn’t let that be the reason why you wouldn’t buy. The backlight is very accurate to what’s happening on the edges of the screen. Sure, if you’re the type to sit and stare at the lights instead of the show for five minutes, waiting for an “AHA!” moment to catch something slightly off, you might be able to find something. But in my experience, it’s spot on... I haven’t seen anything like blacks showing as green or other weird issues.HDMI switching: Soo easy. You just press a button on the sync-box and it switches instantly to the other inputs. No need to shuffle HDMI cords around, and you can have 4 different devices plugged into the ports. (Only uses one HDMI cord going to your TV, so you can have more devices that aren't associated with the sync-box)What needs work?-The app interface needs some adjustments to make it more user friendly. Some of the customizations I would argue make the product worth using aren't enabled by default. It's not that big of a deal but having to dig around the app is not ideal, just to make it work correctly. I've already had two firmware updates so it seems like they are working on it actively.-Compatibility with streaming devices can be a bit quirky, it doesn’t turn off by default, even with the right settings (I use a Roku). But let me stress: this is not a big deal. I almost didn’t buy it because of one review mentioning this, and honestly, I’m glad I didn’t listen. There’s literally a button on the device to turn it off. Literally. That said, I don’t even recommend getting up to press it—this thing is fully Alexa-compatible. In fact, I’d say Alexa is almost necessary for the full experience. You can turn it on and off, adjust the brightness, and skip using the app altogether (after you set it up). It really ties everything together. What needs "work"? (my tips)-ITS TOO HARSH, EW. Adjust your settings! Make it less bright, tone down saturation, fine tune the colors with the provided adjustments, change the relative brightness, turn on or off the sound effects, change the softness of the sound effects, adjust the distance of the TV from the wall, change the- (do you get my point? it's really adjustable lol)-It doesn't work with my TV! Unfortunately this guy does not work with a smart TV, it needs some sort of HDMI input to intercept. Even though the camera systems aren't as accurate if you aren't willing to use some sort of other device like a roku or streaming box, you'll have to use one of those. Or another TV.-I don't even have a flat wall behind my TV this won't work... This guy is BRIGHT, see my picture and videos, I did a color and video test to demonstrate it. You don't NEED a flat wall behind it, but I'm sure it helps enhance the viewing experience even more. All in all, this product impressed me. The immersion it creates is insane, but honestly? What sets this apart from others is the price. It's unbeatable. The hue system is so much more expensive, govee is on to something with this lineup. Sure, you can always find small things wrong with a product and I'm not claiming it's perfect, nothing good ever is. But don't let others sway you away from choosing this, it's not a "compromise" even though it's cheaper than similar systems.

Very pleased
This light system really added to our enjoyment of our TV. It worked perfectly on the first try, and I can confirm it works with Apple TV 4K, including the CEC control of our TV and Sony amplifier. One note: it will help to have two people to put the lights on the back of a larger TV, to keep the light string level. We are very happy with the results, my wife is already asking if we should get another one for a different TV.

Great addition to HT
I had this unit in my home theater for a couple of months and it’s a great addition to the overall experience. I would buy it again, it does have a couple low point. Performance with the dark scenes is not that great, lights stark to go on and off and give you weird dark green or red background. I wish it would just go off during dark scenes and comeback on once light is detected. Overall accuracy of the light to what is displayed on the screen is not 100% as it being advertised when you watch the videos. Other than that, I am very happy

Best tv lighting! (Better than Phillips Hue, fraction of the cost)
All 4k, HDR, Dolby vision/Audio all work seamlessly now. I had the Sync box 1 for years but Netflix did not work with it. (I have the boxes only connection as an HDMI out from my 7.1 receiver on the secondary hdmi output) This newer box LED light strip goes from 60 led's per meter to 75 per. Now it's 450 lumens (couldn't find old models lumens) but it's a noticeable upgrade. Dreamview works flawlessly (I have 9 lights synced to the sync box via dreamview all throughout my livingroom) It also has new calibration features. I can't say enough great things about it! It's actually better than Phillips Hue and a fraction of the cost, it obviously BLOWS Lytmi and other noname boxes out of the water. If your still undecided, watch some YouTube videos on it. It's soooo cool! I actually don't even use the AI features as I'm not a gamer. I use it solely for tv and movies, everyone who sees my set up is instantly jealous! I've sold about 6 systems for Govee as a advocate for them lol!

Big Govee fanboy and what a disappointment this is.
The media could not be loaded. This actually deserves a one star review for the price point it’s selling for. High hopes for this thing and delivered zero. Everything looks great opening the box, set up is a pain in the you know what considering the strips barely make it onto a 75” tv without using a ton of clips for the bends. Get it all hooked up and it looks pretty good on my Xbox Home Screen. From there it’s a nightmare. Flickering as other reviewers mentioned for dark scenes is dreadful. Cutscene transition from full screen to wide screen is a mess. The sync box doesn’t understand what’s going on and goes haywire; takes about ten seconds for it to catch on. Alright, it’s not great for games so let’s try a show or movie. Again, the flickering is so bad that it’s distracting. The “black bar” option for widescreen movies they created is absolutely useless and just causes erratic flashing lights. Overall for $300, I feel like I got ripped off and Govee for once has to be paying for these lights to get positive reviews. Every YouTuber will recommend them and they’re one of the worst products from Govee I’ve had. My T1 in comparison works way better from four years ago than this garbage. Returning these immediately.
