I waited 3 months to write this review so that I could see how if it stood the test of time and it absolutely did! We have 3 cats (8-11 years old) and none of them have huge prey drives, but they go into full hunter mode when we turn this thing on. I always worry about toys like this and how fast they’ll be on carpet, but this toy flies around on carpet with zero problem. It’s so fast and random, in fact, that we’ve lost it several times because we had no idea where it went. I love that it doesn’t take a predictable pattern when it’s moving and that it starts and stops to mimic prey. Our cats aren’t gentle and the attachment is still in great condition. We bring it out once or twice a week randomly and leave it out until it dies (8-10 hours maybe?). We’ve purchased a ton of cat toys and rarely have we gotten one that was worth every penny like this one!

I'm so impressed with this toy. I have a 20 year old cat (yes you read that right) who's deaf and almost blind in one eye. I try to keep her stimulated, so she doesn't just sleep all day, and this toy actually gets and holds her attention. If she were younger, I'm sure she would be chasing it all over the house. It changes direction quickly one time and slowly the next, then it stops and flutters, then it cheeps like a bird, then it's off in another direction, then it pauses for a couple of seconds, and on and on. The company also offers excellent customer service. The first one I ordered wouldn't charge once the little bit of battery power it arrived with ran out. The company replied to my email right away, and I received a new toy in just a couple of days.

This is the new favorite toy of both my cats! The mesh tail is super appealing to them. I don't know of any way they could have made it better. The fake shiny feathers definitely catch attention, and the mesh tail flails and wiggles in a way that my cats can't resist. So far, the tail has resisted damage and destruction (and I have two Bengals). Still, the package included a second one, which I appreciate since destruction is inevitable.There are a couple of downsides to this toy. I really wish it would activate on its own after an hour or two of inactivity, just so my cats get some play time while I'm at work. It responds to touch, though, so they can still choose to play on their terms. It also collects long hair, which gets wound up around the axles. It's not hard to fix, at least, but if anyone in the home has hair longer than a few inches, expect to have to remove the tail to clean out hair periodically. Finally, this toy is noisy... the motor is loud, and it has some weight to it, so when it hits baseboards or doors, it makes a substantial noise. You probably won't want to leave this on anywhere near your bedroom at night.Despite the minor downsides, though, there's no arguing that the cats really love it, which makes it a great toy!

This toy does a fantastic job of imitating the nervous, quivering energy of a small rodent. My cat is getting on in years, though. And so, these days it takes an actual living and breathing mouse or bird to get her truly excited. That said, when this toy squeaks and jiggles around, she does perk up and chase it around a little. She is..."amused"—imagine Garfield getting excited in spite of himself.This toy has a special setting meant for older cats that makes it more "chill", just in case an older cat might be frightened by it. It was a nice thought, but my cat isn't frightened by it. And so, when it's on slow mode, she just ignores it.The durability seems quite good. It fell from the top landing of a stairwell onto a bare concrete floor a full story below, and it's still going strong.

Firstly, our cat gives it 12 stars. She is obsessed with it and chases it for hours. Even if she's too tired to do so she feels obligated to play with it and will not stop until it's taken away and then she cries until it's returned to her.While it does last about 10x longer than similar toys we've purchased, it still only lasts about 1 week before it breaks. The internal gears are made of cheap fragile plastic and they fail even with light use. Also, it's not sealed very well so debris like hair and dirt can get inside of the unit.We've bought 2 and they both died within 1 week.It's a big dilemma because our cat is now completely spoiled with this toy and she gets so depressed without it but we can't afford to buy 4 of them a month because they don't last. Despite that, it's still the best one we've found.

An update to my review. I bought this item because I thought that it would entertain my cat when I couldn’t. I would call my cat mildly timid. We use the lower setting so it goes a little bit slower. At first she just watched it but had no interest in chasing it. She would just lie down and watch it roll around and then she wouldwalk away. But now that we’ve had it a month or so and she’s had a chance to watch it roll around on many occasions we saw her engaged with it for the first time today. She was playing with its tail chasing the ball and allowing the ball to actually run into her slightly and then she would attack it. I hope this continues because I like the concept of this being able to interact with her when I can’t. And to add another update to this review, I’ve given it more stars because as time has progressed, our cat has gotten more and more engaged with this product. As with all things cats, you have to be patient and allow them at their own comfort level to decide whether or not they want to play with an item. And this has turned out to be a great entertaining item for our cat. She does not engage with it every day some days it’s charging other days we can’t find it because it’s under furniture but when we do get it out now she will consistently engage with it.
